AECOM is currently seeking an Ironworker to join our CNRL Albian project team for the upcoming 2020 Spring Turnaround Season. This is a future opportunity posting.
This is a temporary role , supporting the site operations on various tasks relating to the turnaround of the Albian Plant. Rotation will be 12 days on 2 days off unless otherwise specified.
Tentative Start Dates: Early-Mid April
Approximate duration: 30-60 Days
Location: Fort McMurray Area
Travel: Charter flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton, and bus from Fort McMurray.
Accommodation: Camp accommodation will be provided to all workers
Shift and Work Hours: Craft workers will be doing a 12/2 rotation, with the 2 days off in camp. Work hours are 11.5 and a half-hour lunch for a total of 12 hours per day. Day Shift and Night Shift available.
Overtime Eligibility: All craft will be eligible for overtime (after 8 hours per day/ 40 hours per work week).
CLAC Union agreement in place; with competitive rates.
Ironworkers fabricate, construct and join scaffolding, structural steel buildings, bridges, ornamental ironwork and pre-cast structures. They erect structural steel components, reinforce steel, post tension tendons, install conveyors and robotic equipment, and sometimes perform reconstructive work on existing structures.
Understand miscellaneous steel and iron.
Understand principles of pattern development and fabricate projects.
Utilize advanced and safe rigging practices.
Calculate the costs of labor and materials for projects.
Read blueprints and specifications to lay out the work.
Unload and stack steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed.
Erect and install scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks and other hoisting equipment.
Assemble rigging (cables, pulleys, hooks) to move heavy equipment and materials.
Attach cables from a crane or derrick and direct crane operators with hand signals or radios.
Position steel units, align holes and insert temporary bolts.
Check the alignments and join steel parts by bolting or tack welding them with an electric arc process.
Assemble and erect pre-fabricated metal structures.
Select, cut, bend, position, and secure steel bars or wire mesh in concrete forms to reinforce the concrete.
Install ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors.
Unload and install pre-cast components.

For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.
Current Registered Trade Apprentice or Certified Journeyman.
Construction Safety Training Systems - 09 (CSTS-09) Certification required.
Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement).
CSE (Confined Space Entry).
As this position will have a driving requirement, a valid Class 5 [or 3? or 1?] driver’s license with clean 5-year drivers abstract is required as a pre-employment condition.
First Aid – Standard Level C.
AWP (Aerial work platform).
Red Seal preferred or required by provincial regulations and standards.
