Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Quality Lead to join our Husky Project team in Fort McMurray, Alberta location. This is a temporary position and shift is a 7 day on 7 day off schedule or 6/1 rotation depending on client's requirement.

This position will report to the Site Manager or the Construction/Project Manager. The incumbent ensures the quality of the site installations is consistent with the company's plan, policies and procedures together with national and international standards, codes, regulatory and jurisdiction requirements and the customers’ specifications. The QA/QC Lead is responsible for maintaining the Quality program throughout the lifecycle of the project and to communicate any changes to all personnel that are directly responsible for the quality deliverables.

May include the following responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor Quality staff on the project to ensure staff is following the defined process and procedures for the group

  • Ensure training and the new employee set up is completed for all new quality hires within the project

  • Ensure functional coverage for the project

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new quality staff

  • Develop, update and review all changes to the Quality Management System (QMS) for the project ensuring that the Client's quality deliverables are maintained

  • Revise and update changes to the Quality procedures and work instructions as per client recommendations

  • Ensure any changes to the documents are reviewed and approved by the Client and the Construction Management team

  • Generate and review all Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's) with Project Management to ensure completeness

  • Prepares internal quality audit programs and oversees the audits as per approved schedules in accordance with pertinent quality documents

  • Ensure that all employees in the work unit are in compliance with the requirements of the Infrastructure -

  • Quality Management System and Project Specific Construction Quality plan

  • Ensure random and systematic checks that the Quality System is documented, effective, up to date and understood/adhered to by the Quality team

  • Review all inspection reports and communicate results with the Construction Management team and Functional Quality team, if and when required

  • Ensure Quality Inspection Flow Chart and Work Instructions are followed

  • Provide Progress Reports on Progressive Close Out of Change Management Documents

  • Review and approve subcontractors procedures & Quality plan

  • Review and ensure Nonconformance Reports (NCR's), Corrective Action Reports (CAR's), Preventative

  • Action - Reports (PAR's), and Request for Information (RFI's) generated by the discipline specialists or the Client are addressed and logged in a timely manner. Review the effectiveness of proposed disposition and

  • recommend changes for improvement

  • Review and approve of draft ITP's generated by the discipline specialists

  • Review and approve Quality Surveillance Reports (QSR's) generated by the discipline inspectors and Client

  • Assist Workface Planning in package development

  • Effectively communicate with all departments and levels of the organization, as well as to the client as required

  • Meet with the Functional Quality Manager regularly to discuss project conformation

  • Represent the Quality team for all regular project meetings including the Quality stewardship meetings with the Construction Management team

In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • College diploma / certification required

  • Minimum 8 years of related experience required

  • Experience in a QA/QC Supervisor role complemented by excellent technical, planning, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledgeable on International Codes and Standards as well as ABSA requirements.

  • Experience within an industrial or commercial construction environment

  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Microsoft Office(Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Projects, Visio)

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification or PST (Petroleum Safety Training) required

  • H2S Alive Certification

  • First Aid

  • Aerial Work Platform

  • Fall Arrest

  • A valid Class 1 or Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract are requirements of this position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional designation preferred- CET Preferred

  • CWB Level II

  • Journeyman / Inter-provincial tradesman or certified engineering technologist, formal engineering training is preferred.
