Overall Purpose of the Post
To Lead, direct, manage and support AECOM Design Teams and external architects in the successful delivery of major multi-disciplinary design projects in Manchester, the UK and internationally.
To forge relationships with architects and engineers across AECOM and externally within the market to build relationships which enable business development and growth, securing a strong pipeline of work.
Develop the Design Management Offer
Promote the benefits of Design Management through seminars, CPD’s and thought leadership. Increase the profile of the DM service line internally and externally.
Develop relationships with key decision makers in AECOM and key external clients, build trust, become go-to design management service provider and secure healthy pipeline of DM commissions, delivering growth.
Develop our Design Management capability through training and mentoring of staff and where appropriate identify and recruit the very best talent.
Management of the Design Management Team
Work closely with the DM Director to develop Design Management capability in Manchester and deliver local and, where required, international projects.
Carry out leadership and management duties including business development, team performance reviews, quality management, staff development/recruitment, project leadership/oversight etc. as required.
Gain a thorough understanding of the AECOM financial management processes and implement them to ensure the success of both the team and our projects.
Play an active role in DM business planning as required and continuously review business planning targets to monitor progress of the team.
Lead Design Management projects across the UK and Internationally.
Review of work outputs from Design Management team prior to issue to ensure quality and compliance with contractual obligations.
Where necessary play a hands on role in the successful delivery of our projects, undertaking all design management duties including but not limited to:-
Establish and Manage Design Procedures
Monitoring Design Schedule and Progress
Documentation and Deliverables
Monitor and control project finances
Organising Project Meetings and the Decision Making Process
This is a Client facing role and demonstrable skills in maintaining and developing both internal and external relationships are required.
The jobholder will be expected to convey a positive attitude whilst maintaining the highest standards in undertaking their work and acting with integrity and professionalism at all times. They should comply with the firms laid down standards, procedures and processes and implement these effectively.
