Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking for an experienced Accounting/Finance Coordinator for employment in Sao Paulo, Brazil office. The location of the work will be at São Paulo city but the employee must have availability for a future move to Belo Horizonte city.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Finance Leadership: Responsible for key accountabilities including the monthly close process for local statutory compliance and US AECOM requirements and deadlines, business analysis, and the management and driving of the working capital for the Region in partnership with the local Accounting/Finance Manager

  • Management of Business Risks: This role will become familiar with the operation of the business and with the economic commercial environment, should be informed on the issues facing the business in order to assist Accounting/Finance Manager in anticipating and preventing unexpected situations

  • Playing a “Hands-on” Role & Ensuring Strong Collaboration: Will be sufficiently agile to operate as leader while also getting involved in the details of the work. They will be expected to take a proactive approach in helping the business to solve problems

  • Working Capital Management: Responsibility for driving working capital management and reporting, through the achievement of cash flow objectives, engage in capital expenditures and seek to find cost effective solutions, to ultimately instill a culture of cash

  • Report to the local Accounting/Finance Manager regarding a delivery for the statutory month-end closing, regular coordination for the routine of AR/AP/GL and Treasury activities as well accuracy of the balance sheet accounting reconciliation (GL analysis, taxes, etc.) in partnership of the team members and management of issues with the Third part accounting office.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 2+ years of experience the last 2 in a senior position including team management experience (local closing coordination, direct/indirect tax advanced knowledge and controllership)

  • Active CRC

  • Experience in engineering, construction or the professional services industry is preferable but not essential

  • Must bring a level of expertise from a complex consulting and/or construction or services business

  • Display evidence of good leadership, business partnering and influencing skills

  • Demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills, the successful candidate will be comfortable participating both as an effective contributor and a listener in group settings which include senior staff

  • Knows the business and the mission-critical technical and functional skills needed to do the job

  • Understands various types of business propositions and understands how businesses operate in general

  • Learns new methods and technologies easily - experience with Oracle is preferred

  • Basic understanding of compliance requirements and deep knowledge of local and country taxation requirements (statement of IRPJ/CSLL, withholding tax (CSRF, ISS, INSS, IRPJ, etc.), ICMS, importation taxes related to services

  • Acts as deputy to be the main point of contract with external Tax Advisors and External Auditors under the guidance of AECOM Tax and Controllership group on an interim basis (in the leave of absence of the Accounting/Finance Manager)

  • Responsible for the timely completion of the weekly working capital and cash flow projections to the Controllership group

  • Able to apply proper and adequate internal controls and efficient operating procedures to safeguard company assets and assure accurate and timely financial reporting, including and not limited to banking and treasury functions

  • Responsible to report on a timely manner accounting information to the accounting team in US Corporate departments related to GL activity and balance sheet accounts reconciliations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience the last 2 in a senior position including team management experience (local closing coordination, direct/indirect tax advanced knowledge and controllership)

  • Project Accounting Management: The role will be responsible for driving accounting interface to ensure timely and accurate preparation and upload of estimates at completion (EAC) validate the accuracy of revenue recognition at month end co-ordinate responses to client audit requests and review significant project results and variances with the Project Accounting Team
