Reporting to the People Relations Director, you will be responsible for partnering with the business to ensure HR processes and initiatives are in place to support and drive business objectives.
You will deliver a best-in-class employee experience through manager and employee coaching, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, labor and employee relations strategy, and implementing strategic HR initiatives (i.e., talent, culture, inclusion & diversity) at a regional and local level.
This position will be based in New York City.
Roles & Responsibilities
Coaching business leaders on effective team building, change management and organizational effectiveness.
Partnering with HR Business Leaders and Centers of Excellence to effectively implement programs focused on enabling an engaged workforce (i.e., Inclusion and Diversity, Career Planning, Performance & Rewards, Workforce Planning).
Providing sound consultation, guidance and support in all matters related to employee relations, including performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, and all other application of local policies, work rules, procedures and applicable law.
Guiding and driving strategies to resolve difficult and/or sensitive workplace matters, providing objective coaching and guidance on performance, conduct issues and investigations.
Conducting strategic reviews of current and possible employee relations risks and working with Legal, Employee Relations & Compliance, HR Business Leaders and managers to develop appropriate positioning in relation to compliance risks and desired business outcomes.
Facilitating HR compliance reporting and audits.
Measuring and monitoring key HR KPIs.
Strong expertise in employment law, compliance, and managing sensitive investigations.
Experienced at team start-up / team effectiveness facilitation and proven experience with Star Model (organization design).
Managing employee relations health assessment program and resulting risk-based action plans.
Experience with analyzing talent data to make fact-based HR decisions and proposals.
Seen as a ‘team player’ with a consultative style and ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with all levels of the organization in a matrixed team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the experience of making presentations to senior leadership, conducting training, and partnering with the AECOM HR team on special projects.
Excellent follow through skills and the ability to anticipate and address business needs proactively.
Ability to maintain perspective, balance, and focus through challenge, uncertainty and change. Ability to work productively in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
Ability to travel.
Bachelor’s Degree plus 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education; all including a minimum of 2 years of leadership.
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, specifically with a mix of labor relations, employee relations.
Advanced degree and HR certification (i.e., MHRM, MILR, MBA with HR concentration and SPHR/SHRM-SCP, Prosci, DiSC, ICF, StandOut and/or other assessment or coaching certification preferred).
Seen as having potential to be a viable succession candidate for career progression within People Relations and HRBL or COE rotations.
Experience with process improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Simple Problem Solving).
