Job Summary

AECOM’s Upstate New York Area (Albany region) has a position available for an Environment, Health and Safety Department Manager . In this leadership role the employee will be a seller-doer who provides practice-focused management and technical leadership of staff across the Area. This position will be responsible for Upstate NY Practice staff and client growth with potential to expand into a client(s) account management role, and provide leadership to our Regional EHS team.

Project Delivery

Drive a culture of safety leadership and delivery excellence

Responsible for Department profitability

Leverage best practice to project delivery by utilizing Environment Business Line (EBL) Practices, centers of excellence, technology and standard methodologies

Oversee staffing and workforce planning for the Department with an emphasis on optimization of SCM and utilization

Ensure Team Leaders focus on pricing, staff demographics/mix and application of technology/standard methodologies in project pursuits and execution

Empower project teams to deliver on client expectations and oversee project delivery and performance

Business Development

Work with Northeast Regional Practice Leader/ Americas Practice Directors, and Regional Market Sector Leaders to develop, capture, and grow market share for the Department across the region

Promote and support seller-doers and help mentor Team Leaders to secure projects from targeted clients across the life-cycle of their assets

Focus resources and BD spend on strategic/targeted clients that have the greatest potential for revenue growth, attractive pricing and long-term repeat business

Ensure a focus on Go/No-Go decision framework to prioritize BD investment

Actively seek to maximize pricing through project fee type, basis of underlying rates and approach

Raise the profile of the Department’s Practice as the leading provider of environmental solutions to regulators, clients and potential employees

People and Practice leadership

Expand the capabilities of the Department by developing existing talent and attracting external technical talent

Foster and implement career path planning and initiatives for the Department

Provide input to the Operations Director on budgets, monthly reporting and risk

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in environmental science or similar

8+ years of recent relevant experience to include the following

  • Demonstrated exp managing small to large size public and private sector projects

  • Experience managing scope and budget, and staff administration and development

  • Demonstrated experience with strategy, and action plan development and execution

  • Experience building client relationships, business development and client management

  • Previous experience demonstrating project delivery, business development and leadership experience (as noted above)
