Job Summary

AECOM is looking to hire a Principal Planner / Engineer for an Aviation team based in Dublin. They will be responsible for building and leading a team to deliver aviation services to our existing clients in Ireland (principally the daa) and other airport owners/operators, airlines and transportation agencies. This team will itself be part of the wider network of aviation specialists to extend our fully integrated service addressing a wide range of aviation developments in Ireland and UK. It is anticipated that you would be mentored by an experienced team leader.

As principal planner/engineer, you will build the team and lead its work on the planning, design and management of airport projects. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Management and development of the team

  • Client and stakeholder interface

  • Project management for delivery of multi-disciplinary designs

  • Technical responsibility for designs

  • Co-ordination and management of other discipline inputs into projects.

  • Business development

Specific Skills Required:

  • Understanding of airport clients and the constraints on working at airports.

  • Experience working with Airport clients on the delivery of Civil Engineering Aviation Projects

  • Good working knowledge of EASA Certification Specifications and ICAO Annex14.

  • Working knowledge of other relevant aviation standards

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Significant previous airports experience with working knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines and specifications

  • Demonstration of a specialist airfield design experience

  • Airport infrastructure planning, building and layout design experience

  • An understanding of the key drivers of Airport Planning and Development, specifically the interactions between construction and airport operations.

  • Able to work within a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Excellent people skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline;

  • Chartered status (or equivalent) with a relevant professional body
