Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil Designer/EIT as a Project Coordinator for employment in the Mississauga office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide project coordination / control and review the designs and construction of infrastructure projects proposed by outside companies and government agencies on or near railway property on behalf of our clients (Railways) to ensure compliance with Railway Standards.

  • Acts as liaison between Third Party applicants and Railway.

  • Project coordinator for transportation / rail projects including freight-rail and transit-rail.

  • Support project managers with routine and non-routine tasks.

  • Typical duties will include:

  • Attend meetings and prepare minutes of meetings

  • Monitor project costs and budgets

  • Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports

  • Review documents (drawings, reports, contractor shop drawings, etc.)

  • Acts as liaison between Third Party applicants and Railway;

  • Set up new projects and track monthly billing.

  • Prepare project schedules and monitor progress of work

  • Review and compile client submittals

  • Write technical specifications and bid documents

  • Project documents control

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Must have a valid Ontario class “G” driver’s licence and must meet corporate standard for a good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

  • Design and/or review of engineering plans;

  • Understanding of Railway Rules and Regulations, and Safety and Operating Procedures;

  • Strong technical background coupled with project controls experience;

  • Interact with clients in a professional manner;

  • Ability to work independently, strong interpersonal, negotiating, problem-solving and analytical skills are a must;

  • Able to work well under pressure;

  • Detail oriented, adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing workloads

  • Experience in Transit & Rail.
