Job Summary

Position is located at Fort Polk, LA

AECOM’s PMCM business line is actively seeking an environmental technician to join the Fort Polk 8300 Block onsite team. The Block Team supports the installation by ensuring maximum program effectiveness, protecting soldier’s health and welfare, and safeguarding DA assets.

The Fort Polk 8300 Block Technicians receive and ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste, hazardous material, Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) products and restricted items turned in or generated by the rotational units.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Issue spill kits, secondary containment, Grey water totes, and drums to rotational units.

  • Respond to rotational unit spills and oversee the management and handling of any and all spill media.

  • Provide support for the development of Corrective Action Plans, as required.

  • Receive and test lithium batteries by placing them on a State-of-Charge tester (up to 10,000 annually), reissue batteries that have a charge greater than 70% to the incoming rotation.

  • Conduct an environmental pre-clearance inspection at the end of each rotation and provide a deficiency list to the rotational unit. Attend and brief up to 60 rotational unit briefings to detail environmental concerns.

  • Develop corrective action/response plans to address these concerns.

  • onduct daily inventory of restricted items and Class V munitions removed from the solid waste. Send daily report of Class V munitions removed to Fort Polk CTC Program Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive. Pass pre-employment drug screen.

  • Participate in and successfully complete a ready-fit physical.

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, noise, dusts, moisture, chemicals and mineral fibers; position requires frequent (more than 50% of workday) lifting of 25 or less pounds; often (25-50% of workday)standing/walking, operation of vehicles, working in an environment of heavy, moving dangerous equipment, performing keyboard/mouse operations, and lifting 25-50 pounds; occasionally (10-25% of workday)performing work with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending/stooping, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), climbing stairs, operating of heavy, moving or dangerous equipment, and performing repetitive or fine hand movements; rarely (less than 10 workday)working at heights, using portable ladders, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting greater than 50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, and respiratory protection (half/full face respirators).
