Job Summary

The Program Management/Construction Management (PM/CM) business line specializes in the management of design and construction of community infrastructure facilities for education, healthcare, national governments, sports and leisure, justice, cultural venues, and commercial needs. From concept through completion, we provide necessary technical and administrative services to help our clients meet their program objectives. Our professionals serve as an extension of our clients' staff, protecting their interests as our own, and often working within our clients' offices. As an industry leader in PM/CM, we oversee activities ranging from planning, coordination, scheduling and cost control, to design, construction and commissioning.

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Construction Project Manager in the Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland) for an Education project.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following…

  • Coordinate and supervise construction projects, often multiple construction projects.

  • Oversee specialized contractors and other personnel.

  • Schedule and coordinate all construction processes so that projects meet design specifications.

  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Work closely with other specialists.

  • Preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables

  • Interpretation and explanation of contracts and technical information to other professionals

  • Reporting work progress and budget matters to clients,

  • Collaboration with project managers, architects, engineers, and other construction specialists

  • Schedule, and coordinate subcontractor activities

  • Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other problems, and comply with legal requirements, safety, construction codes, and other regulations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of related experience

  • Experience with education projects

  • Must have E-Rate Program experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in managing projects experience including DSA (Division of the State Architect) coordination

  • Knowledge and relative experience with pre-planning, planning, design management, consultant procurement, bidding and construction management

  • Must be a proactive problem solver and can adjust to changing job environments

  • Proficiency in using, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

  • Thorough knowledge of accepted buildings practices, materials and techniques, knowledge of common and general code requirements, permitting processes and requirements, market pricing and lien waivers

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field

  • School experience preferred (K14)

  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and construction principles, practices and procedures, applicable laws and government regulations, principles of management and supervision and procedures and policies of departments and facility

  • Bond management and compliance experience

  • Scheduling experience in P6

  • Experience with PMIS systems such as eBuilder or Proliance

  • Thorough knowledge of in the public contract code arena

  • Thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures

  • Ability to demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
