Subject Matter Expert (SME) HQMC/PMA-265 F-18 A-D

The selected candidate will be designated the F-18 (A-D) Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the HQMC Aviation and PMA-265 (F/A-18 A-D) team. The candidate will provides advanced technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environment, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, and implementation advice on complex aircraft platform problems which require a high level of knowledge of the F-18 subject matter for effective program implementations. The selected SME will apply principles, methods, and knowledge of specific F-18 functional areas of expertise to specific platform requirements and provides advice on esoteric problems which require extensive knowledge of the specific F-18 subject matter.

In addition the SME will design and prepare technical reports, studies, and related documentation, makes charts and graphs to record results, prepare and deliver presentations, training, and briefings as required. This position’s required support will also include developing strategies and providing recommendations regarding procurement doctrinal integration.

Provide Fleet introduction and transition of legacy F/A-18 Type Model Series (TMS) aircraft to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation and Deputy Chief of Naval operations for Integration of capabilities and resources. The selected candidate will also provide oversight and management of the legacy TACAIR Transient task force by organizing and facilitating meetings and semi-annual conferences, as well as by developing and monitoring Plans of Action (POA) and Milestones; representing Marine Corps Aviation in Joint matters. The selected candidate will liaison with the Inter-Service Training Review Organization on F/A-18 USMC TMS Subject Matter to the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System in all phases from the Marine Corps Action Tracking System to the Marine Corps Requirements Oversight Council, Functional Capabilities Board, Joint Capabilities Board and the Joint Requirements Oversight Council. The selected candidate will provide representation to Marine Corps Aviation community at briefings and meetings and participate in working groups and conference sessions. This will included research policy, procedural guidelines and historical files to identify precedents for unusual actions in order to make recommendations concerning appropriate courses of action regarding F/A-18 TMS.

The selected candidate will provide assistance with, compiling, and drafting accurate and complete information on processes, procedures, presentations, correspondence and documentation in accordance with the Naval Correspondence Manual. They will ensure historical and current aviation inventory, budget and execution information is accurately tracked and reported and provide periodic update on the status of aircraft acquisition and modification programs including budget/funding-related issues.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: A Master’s Degree and eight (8) years of experience in a program management, technical and business analysis discipline is required. Included in the eight (8) years there must be two (4) years of professional experience in technical efforts supporting the F-18 aircraft/weapon system and aircraft components development.

A Bachelor’s Degree and an additional four (4) years of experience may be substituted for a Master’s Degree. Marine Corps prior service and experience as a pilot is a plus. Must have and active or be eligible for a TS security clearance.
