Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Engineer to join the growing team of professionals in our Transportation Group in Rocky Hill, CT. The Traffic Engineer is responsible for conducting signal retiming studies, corridor studies, evaluation of signal systems, traffic engineering/safety studies, developing Complete Streets plans and projects, and preparing engineering reports to document the findings and recommendations of traffic engineering/safety studies and signal retiming studies.

Qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate prior experience in the development and implementation of signal timing plans and hands on experience with at least one of the traffic operational analysis softwares such as SYNCHRO, HCS, CORSIM and VISSIM.

Ancillary duties of this job position include analyzing crash data to identify crash patterns, probable causes and development of potential safety and operational improvements; conducting field reviews to identify safety and operational issues; developing improvements to enhance safety and traffic flow; preparing conceptual improvement drawings; evaluating signal timing/phasing and signal systems;

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering/design or other related field required

  • 6+ years of experience in relative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • P.E. license or the ability to obtain within 12 months.

  • Engineer-in-Training certificate

  • Valid driver’s license
