Description

SAIC is seeking a Data Center Technician for our contract in Livermore, CA.  The Data Center Technician will be responsible for supporting existing and future data center environments including cabling, power and space planning, cooling management, racking and troubleshooting hardware, performing audits, and all other functions related to Data Center Operations.  

 

Some activities you may be asked to work on:

  • Configure and troubleshoot KVM, iDRAC, IPMI, or iLO configurations

  • Upgrade BIOS and firmware revisions across various hardware platforms
  • Monitor data center environment using DCIM and respond to active alerts
  • Maintaining data center monitoring infrastructure (temperature, humidity, airflow, sensors)
  • Perform or assist with capacity and power audits
  • Asset management (adding, removing, and managing data center assets)
  • Perform data center inventory audits, handle incoming shipment, label packages, and maintaining designated storage areas
  • Data center organization and cleanliness
  • IT procurement processes and managing IT standards across an organization
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks, escorting facility engineers and contractors
  • Responding to on-call escalations related to hardware, cooling, and power incidents
  • Primary point of contact for data center operations work intake and requests
  • Customer engagement and business systems analysis experience, excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with DCIM tools or concepts

 

 

 


 

 

 


Qualifications

The Data Center Technician will be responsible for supporting existing and future data center environments including cabling, power and space planning, cooling management, racking and troubleshooting hardware, performing audits, and all other functions related to Data Center Operations.  

 

Candidates for this role must possess the experience and background with the below day to day tasks:  

 

  • Bachelors’ degree and two (2) years or more of related experience or 6 years or more of experience in lieu of degree; OR Masters’ degree and 0 years related experience
  • Previous experience with configuring and troubleshooting KVM, iDRAC, IPMI, or iLO configurations
  • Ability to upgrade BIOS and firmware revisions across various hardware platforms
  • Previous experience with monitoring data center environments using DCIM and respond to active alerts
  • Experience with maintaining and monitoring data center infrastructure (temperature, humidity, airflow, sensors)
  • Previous experience with assisting with capacity and power audits
  • Ability to assist with asset management with items such as adding, removing, and managing data center assets
  • Have previous experience with performing data center inventory audits, handle incoming shipment, label packages, and maintaining designated storage areas
  • Assist with data center organization and cleanliness
