SAIC is seeking a Biochemist to join our Laser Bioeffects research team conducting basic and applied research on the biological effects of laser exposure.  The individual will conduct experiments to study novel laser effects at the cellular and subcellular level.  This will be a full-time position based at the Air Force Research Laboratory, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform benchtop experiments using mammalian cells and subcellular fractions to discover novel laser bioeffects
  • Culture a variety of mammalian cell lines and label them with fluorescent dyes
  • Perform microscopy
  • Document experimental procedures and results
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences
  • Author peer-reviewed publications
  • Mentor junior scientists


  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology or Biophysics
  • At least 2 years of experience using methods of cellular and molecular biology, including experience using mammalian cell cultures
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
