Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Area Supervisor, Piping to join the team at our Husky Sunrise Turnaround Project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 7 day on, 7 day off rotation moving to a 6 day on/1 day off rotation during the turnaround.

Responsible for the organization, direction, supervision and coordination of construction activities on a construction project site as delineated in the applicable project execution procedures, site specific safety plan and project execution plan.

  • Under general supervision, monitors routine duties for a single maintenance discipline or a functional area consisting of several disciplines.

  • Supervise and answer questions / inquiries from Foreman on site.

  • Responsible for betting and approving time sheets.

  • Ensures that workers are adequately supplied with direction, materials and equipment.

  • Maintains records and time sheets.

  • Utilized on international projects or industrial operations when this level is not covered by an hourly collective bargaining agreement.

  • Responsible for work procedures, scheduling, cost control, project specification conformity, establishment of manpower levels, monitoring and implementation of safety programs, project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records.

  • Responsible for the satisfactory conduct of all maintenance operations and task accomplishment in an economical, efficient and timely manner on a project.

  • Monitors manpower utilization, effectiveness and productivity.

  • Facilitates the efficient use of personnel and equipment.

  • Implements and enforces work rules.

  • Coordinates movement and use of equipment and supplies with Material Management.

  • Requisitions tools, materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures and necessary lead times.

  • Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, drawings and schedules to determine work phases and work priorities.

  • Inspects fieldwork to evaluate progress, efficiency of operation and cost control.

  • Responsible for overall project workmanship and goal attainment.

  • Review and plan out jobs from scope of work / project plan.

  • Build field packages for crews from original packages.

  • Understand project schedule and sequence.

  • Work with Quality and Safety to understand complete scope or work / project plan.

  • May provide overall on-site administrative and technical management for a wide range of construction projects.

  • May be responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi-discipline construction project.

  • May be the primary client contact for all jobsite day to day activities, or may coordinate with client’s resident representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations.

  • Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.

  • Interfaces with all other administrative field staff, field management staff and particularly the Project Manager in a coordinated effort.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate + 2 Years of Experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Mechanical and/or Piping project experience is required

  • Previous Foreman, General Foreman and/or Crew Supervisory experience is required

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020)

  • H2S Alive Ticket

  • First Aid

  • Aerial Work Platform

  • Fall Arrest

  • Husky online orientation

  • This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work face planning experience is preferred

  • Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is an asset
