Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an HR Information System (HRIS) manager to be based in our Calgary, AB location. This is a Full-Time position.

This position will architect and develop solutions for the HR Systems portfolio, including Compensation, Talent Management, Recruiting, Diversity, Benefits, and HR Shared Services. This position partners with HR Directors and their customers to analyze work process design and flow, improve processes and leverage the return on technological capabilities. The HRIS Manager requires core strengths in building client relationships, meaningful HR Analytics, Reporting, Data Management, and System/Process Optimization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Specializes and manages a technical function within human resources (HR) and serves as a technical specialist for the function.

  • Plans and develops multiple HR projects with unique or controversial problems that have important effects on the organization.

  • May work with subject matter experts, outside consultants and vendors, as required.

  • Receives limited supervision or general direction, with strategic guidance from the HR Directors.

  • Involves creative, independent solutions that will be adopted by HR corporate-wide.

  • As an individual contributor, conceives, plans and conducts consultation in areas of considerable scope and complexity.

  • Provides work leadership and training for HRIS team.

  • Responsible for architecting solutions for the HR System portfolio which deliver results that meet our strategic business objectives, are technically sound, and sustainable.

  • Responsible for leading and managing enterprise wide project teams including end user and third-party provider activities pertaining to the design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of application product and services.

  • Strategic analytical thinker with the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Partner with senior management in the business community to identify and prioritize opportunities to utilize automation to achieve enterprise goals.

  • Partners with HR Business Partners to use data analytics to support workforce development and planning, and to identify the human capital insights necessary to achieve business outcomes.

  • Serves as liaison between team members and functional area management requesting projects.

  • Develop tools for compensation team use – databases, analytical tools, templates, reports and system requirements.

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a professional who prides themselves on their client-centric and solutions-focused approach. Your data management and analysis skills, along with your ability to influence and provide high level support to a range of stakeholders will be the key to your success in this role.

  • Bachelor's degree + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Advanced Excel and Power Point skills

  • Demonstrated experience working in a professional services or highly commercial environment

  • Strong HR systems reporting, HR process and project management / implementation experience

  • Foresees potential challenges and possess ability to provide solutions to solve variety of problems

  • Possess a positive, service-oriented attitude with excellent follow through on issues.

  • Experience using business analytical skills including facilitating requirements sessions and documenting activity workflows and business requirements.

  • Experience pulling large data sets, synthesizing and summarizing the data to identify insights to business outcomes, and communicating/presenting findings to leadership.

  • Experience with project management (planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to develop presentations and present to management

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary cloud and mobile application technologies

  • Experience in process standardization

  • Highly self-motivated and detail oriented

  • Ability to prioritize workload and provide timely follow-up and resolution

  • People Management: Ability to effectively manage teams (indirect and direct)

  • Possess high-level knowledge and proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices, and change management techniques

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, computer sciences or similar discipline is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in a senior HRIS or HCM role is preferred

  • Hands-on experience with HR systems is highly preferred

  • Basic COGNOS Reporting capabilities is an asset
