FMS Avionics Special Projects Engineer
This position supports the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) F/A-18 Avionics Special Programs Engineer (ASPE) at NAS Patuxent River. The successful candidate will have an in depth background in Avionics, Electrical, and Weapon systems for the F/A-18 A-F model aircraft.
Duties include assisting the program office supporting numerous avionics program technical meetings and briefings as an Avionics SME; attend System Safety Working Group (SSWG) and International Requirements Group meetings. Draft KAF F/A-18 briefings for senior members of KAF delegation. Provide experienced F/A-18 ASPE SME perspective to program leadership on various issues facing the KAF acquisition of the F/A-18E/F. Collect data for presentation to platform Subject Matter Experts (SME) in support of troubleshooting KAF issues. Create and distribute technical documents in support of the engineering program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BA/BS degree in a related field with 5 years of experience. In lieu of formal education, 13 years of experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
Demonstrated knowledge of SECNAV, OPNAV and OSD policy and documentation related to Iife-cycle management of military acquisition programs (as specified in the DoD 5000 series). Familiarity with program acquisition funding and contract documentation for military programs.
BS or BA degree in a Business, Management or Relevant Technical Discipline.
Allowable Substitution: An AS or AA degree and an additional four (4) years of experience, OR an additional six (6) years of experience may he substituted for a BS or BA degree.
At least four (4) years of experience in avionics program management, technical or business analysis discipline; and included in the four (4) years of experience there must be at least two (2) years professional experience in technical efforts supporting major weapon systems and components development with specific knowledge of FMS and Defense Security Cooperation Programs. Demonstrated experience in the program/project status and schedules. Demonstrated experience in avionics and weapons systems support.
