Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Planner I in the Phoenix, Arizona office. Entry-level planner position to provide a recent college graduate who is interested in transportation with an opportunity to get started in the field. Working in a fast-paced, professional setting, this position will provide the opportunity to work alongside other planners and engineers to develop transportation plans and studies.

This position will involve planning and project development activities for transportation projects under supervision of more senior staff.

  • Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans and programs.

  • Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, roadway network, crash records, and asset inventories.

  • Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze data and prepare detailed maps for use in reports.

  • Conducts concept level evaluation of transportation improvement options.

  • Documents and presents findings on transportation planning projects.

  • Researches current transportation related topics at local, State, and Federal levels.

  • Researches project options and documents findings

  • Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers.

Additional job responsibilities include:

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or similar

  • Masters in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • Technical writing

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Online

  • Basic knowledge of transportation planning topics
