Job Summary

  • Mentor and grow the Transit/Rail Systems practice in AECOM’s Northeast Region, including staff in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore.

  • Work with the National Transportation Leadership team, Area and Regional Executives (operations and business development), the Transportation Regional Business Line Leader (RBLL), and the Regional and Area Business Development leads on development and execution of sales strategies

  • Formulate and execute business development and client capture strategies, including general marketing efforts and specific opportunity pursuits complete with identification and required staff resources to win and effectively deliver projects

  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members

  • Work in collaboration with the Director, National Transit/Rail Systems to Identify upcoming transit/rail systems pursuits in the Northeast Region and across the Americas

  • Assist in positioning AECOM for pursuits that best fit our skillset and growth plans

  • Lead the proposal development process including team formulation, Statement of Qualifications, Technical Proposals and Presentations

  • Present at conferences and participate in workshops to strengthen existing client relationships and establish new relationships; obtain an understanding of emerging state-of- the-art technologies and market drivers

  • Maintain a high regional and national profile

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related

  • 20+ years of related transit/rail systems experience, including 6+ years of experience in leadership, project management, client services management, or business development activities for large scale transportation clients and/or projects

  • Proven track record with mega project pursuit and execution, and engineering/technical management

  • Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development, and execution of selection interviews

  • Familiarity with local and federal funding and project development requirements

  • Demonstrated familiarity and working experience with systems industry suppliers (such as Siemens, Alstom, Mitsubishi, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience in alternative delivery procurements involving transit/rail systems

  • Team-oriented individual that can work with technical staff, operations, project and marketing staff of all levels

  • Recognized leader in being able to mentor and develop transit/rail systems technical staff

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Engineering or equivalent advanced technical training

  • Track record of managing and growing a technical/engineering staff and promoting a Transit/Rail Systems Center of Excellence

  • Increasing market share in the Transit/Rail systems sector

  • Recognized business development/client management leader

  • Recognized leader in developing and nurturing relationships with key clients

  • Recognized leader in professional organizations
