Digital Engineering Coordinator

KBR has been appointed as the lead design consultant for the North Western Program Alliance in Melbourne. This global-scale, multi-billion dollar alliance of works involves over 4 years of continuous work during which our new Engineering and Digital Engineering design leaders will emerge.

KBR’s digital agenda is a key priority; with initiatives in place for this to transform the way KBR, our partners and our clients’ present information and make informed decisions. At a project level, the design team will be using the latest BIM, digital engineering and virtual reality technology as they design and document the removal of multiple level crossings and upgrading of stations across metropolitan Victoria.

The position will be a part of the project delivery team at the design and construction level and will be directly involved in coordinating the quality and on-time delivery of the design model and virtual design review process we have in place for the project. This provides you with the opportunity to extend both your coordination and technical skills as part of a long term program of works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team coordination
  • 3D Model Development and Coordination.
  • 4D Timelining
  • Collaboration with construction and design teams during the level crossing occupation construction phase
  • Linking and testing of discipline design models to create a single federated Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) model for model checking and clash mitigation and control.
  • Ensuring the latest federated Virtual Design Model is used for technical design reviews, safety in design and construction meetings, stake holder and client engagement and project milestone reporting and delivery reviews.
  • Provide subject matter expert support to implement BIM design processes and the delivery of BIM compliant solutions.
  • Capturing input data required to create and maintain the project VDC model and 4D construction sequencing model.
  • Assisting with the implementation of digital engineering technical initiatives.
  • Provide technical support for Digital Engineering and BIM enabling software applications to project team.
  • Assist with discipline design and construction modelling activities and tasks when required
  • Ensure changes in Digital Engineering procedure, standards are effectively communicated to project teams
  • Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external client need

Key Skills

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Associate Diploma / Diploma in Engineering or relevant field A minimum of 5 years related experience – more preferable
  • Experience in 3D modelling (Bentley Open Suite/Autodesk products) and coordination packages (Revizto, Navisworks, iConstruct etc)
  • Ability to manage diverse projects to ensure projects are delivered with excellence
  • Implementation and management of clash detection
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering, architecture, construction and specialty disciplines
  • Compliance with quality controls and relevant review and approval processes

Desirable

  • Demonstrated ability in the coordination of model-based collaborative visualisation Digital Engineering processes and technologies within a vertical and linear infrastructure engineering and design DE and/or BIM environment including 4D construction sequencing, clash detection and model validation using software such as Navisworks, Revizto, Synchro, Solibri.
  • Use of supporting digital engineering technologies including; 3D Point Cloud / Laser Scanning, Virtual Reality programming, Visualisations etc.
