SAIC JOB DESCRIPTION: SAIC has an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer to support the Force Protection Lab (FPL) Systems Engineering Development Program. As part of the Force Protection Lab you will be directly supporting the security and safety of the brave men and women serving our country. We are looking for someone with a solid foundation in Java programming who is a self starter, eager to learn, and who also has an interest in doing mobile development. 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: This position is for the Force Protection Lab (FPL), which provides system-of-systems engineering and integration solutions that protect and mitigate hostile actions against military personnel, resources and facilities. The FPL integrates commercial off-the-shelf sensors including chemical and biological, acoustical, radar and other sensors that are used by both terrestrial and unmanned aerial systems to improve facility monitoring. The FPL's expertise in modeling, simulation, system integration and software engineering delivers systems and software to provide increased situational awareness, enhanced standoff and security posture and deterrence.

  • Write and maintain Android and iOS applications
  • Work independently on directed tasks with clear objectives and outcomes
  • Communicate in a clear and straightforward manner with team members
  • Remediate existing issues and errors with applications
  • Develop new solutions with senior staff to find effective and efficient solutions for application
  • design, architecture and testability
  • Understand and communicate interactive touch/gesture interfaces, application development
  • paradigms, memory management, file I/O, concurrency and multi-threading
  • Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Participate Scrum meetings: Daily Stand-up, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Story
  • Point Estimation, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related scientific discipline and 5 years of experience app development experience. Will also consider HS and 9 years of experience. 
  • Some working knowledge of Java or Swift, and a desire to learn and work in both languages
  • Able to work in Linux and macOS operating systems
  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance
