Description

SAIC is looking for a Senior Engineer in Patuxent River, MD to maintain clear communication between FAA and DoD organizations.

Responsibilities will include:
• Supporting Navy and Marine Corps Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) engineering related airspace integration goals and objectives as detailed by Navy DPEO (U&W) for UAS programs.
• Providing Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) subject matter expertise.
• Interfacing with Policy Board on Federal Aviation (PBFA) officials in support of Department of Navy (DoN) interest involving UAS and air traffic control.
• Participating in the development and refinement of Department of Defense (DoD) and DoN UAS policies.
• Analyzing ongoing FAA rule-making actions and assess engineering impacts on DoN UAS operations.
• Maintaining a working relationship within the FAA executive, managerial, and technical levels.
• Applying and integrates engineering management principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, and evaluate DoN unmanned aircraft systems and operations.
 
Will work under only general direction, and independently determine and develop solutions to problems presented in order to contribute to the successful completion of specific projects.

Qualifications

  

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific discipline and at least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three of which must be directly related to naval systems.
    • A BS or BA in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related scientific discipline can be substituted for the Master’s Degree, with an additional 4 years of experience, requiring a total 14 years of experience

 

 

Desired Qualifications

 
  • 4 or more years’ experience with FAA and Air Traffic Control
  • Experience with UAS policy development and military aviation standards
