Software Engineer (Entry Level)

Mission Systems Operations Contract (MSOC) Opportunity for a Software Engineer

Position Description:

Entry level position for a software developer to serve on a Simulation Engineering team at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center (JSC). The position supports the development and maintenance of the Training Systems software systems supporting the User Support Systems (USS) within the facility.


  • Candidate must have strong problem-solving experience using computer programming and experience in C++ software development.
  • Linux or UNIX skills are required.
  • Candidate must be able to perform simple and complex software builds and integrate software with other developers.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively and coordinate actions with both internal and external customers.

Work & Experience Requirements:

B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree. Software development experience using C++ with UNIX or Linux skills are required. Candidate must have programming experience and knowledge in developing Graphical User Interface (GUI) software tools. Applicant will work with the users to determine requirements, system limitations, impacts and flight-training readiness associated with the USS system. Knowledge and experience in Python, Qt, and Agile software development methods are a plus. Applicant must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Strong initiative, teamwork and problem-solving skills are required.
