As a Linux System Administrator with SAIC, you will support our customer team that designs, implements, maintains and supports enterprise class, highly available, scalable and secure information systems and applications. Primary responsibilities, under minimal direction, will include:

  • Troubleshooting centralized and distributed physical and virtual Linux servers, by applying technical and operational knowledge to configure, operate and maintain information processing, telecommunication systems and analyzing performance statistics to support tuning, automation and optimization activities
  • Provide administration to Linux servers, which includes patching and security compliance requirements, as well as troubleshooting customer issues
  • Participate in customer projects to provide technical expertise in the area of system upgrades, improvements, adherence to security requirements and infrastructure improvements
  • Resolve new problems as technologies are deployed that will require creative solutions



• Bachelors and 5 years or more experience OR 9 years or more of experience in lieu of degree; Masters and 3 years or more of experience
•Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Linux Server management and troubleshooting (system setup, account management, shell/bash scripting, file services, network configuration, license management, application hosting and end-user application support)
•Applicant must have strong customer service skills, communications skills, documentation skills,
•Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including strong interpersonal skills
•Able to obtain and maintain and DOE Q clearance


Desired Qualifications

  • Active DOE or DoD clearance
  • Experience with Oracle/RedHat Linux
  • Previous classified support experience
  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG)) compliance
  • Experience with Puppet, Ansible, or other configuration and automation technologies
  • Experience with VMware
  • Experience with Splunk
  • Experience with PERL and Python
