Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Associate for a mid-level position in the Aviation Engineering Group in the Hunt Valley, MD office. The position involves planning, design, engineering, and construction for airport projects dealing with airfield safety, standards, improvement, and expansion programs. Design work includes airfield planning, layout, and site design, earthwork analyses and design, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design, pavement design and maintenance, construction safety and phasing, aircraft layouts and modeling, stormwater management design, erosion and sediment control design, utility coordination and design, environmental permitting, and preparation of construction plans, specifications, schedules, design reports, and cost estimates. Construction work includes construction administration and management including shop drawing review, responding to contractor questions, and construction over site.

The AECOM Hunt Valley Aviation Engineering Group has been serving Commercial Service and General Aviation clients throughout the region for over 50 years, with such clients as Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport, Harrisburg International Airport, Detroit Metro Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Ocean City Municipal Airport, and Easton Airport, along with military and Department of Homeland Security aviation facilities. The Aviation Engineering Group interacts with and is supported by many other in-house disciplines including Planners, Architects, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical and Special Systems Engineers in typical projects supporting our airport clients.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related fields

  • 2 plus years of experience in site development/construction/civil/aviation engineering

  • Proficient using a spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software

  • Proficient using AutoCAD/Civil 3D software

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Pass standard background check and drug screen

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Available for periodic construction inspection

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
