AECOM are currently expanding the Traffic Team in Croydon following several major project wins across the UK and Europe. We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Road Safety Engineer in our Croydon team. This is a key position within the team, and you will play an instrumental part in developing the safety offering within the Roads sector. The team has an established track record of successfully delivering traffic engineering projects. We are involved in multi-disciplinary transportation design and planning capability.
Our team provides road safety expertise to support scheme development for a wide range of traffic engineering projects and also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a traffic interface. This involves us in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East and other global locations. The team also comprises of traffic modelling, preliminary and detailed design expertise.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and include various London Boroughs and Local Authorities in the southeast. We also have a proven track record of successfully delivering projects for Transport for London and several international clients.
Collision Analysis studies and Road Safety Audits
Direct dealing with clients, consultants and suppliers
Preparation of detailed client briefs or fee proposals for Manager approval and contribute to major bids
Sharing knowledge and supporting team managers in mentoring junior staff
Undertaking Health & Safety duties; ensuring a safe and healthy working environment and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design
Eligible to undertake Road Safety Audits (Streets) as Team Leader
Proven track record in the delivery of road safety audits and road safety engineering projects
Thorough and knowledgeable in urban and rural road safety issues, solutions and products
Work on your own initiative and mentor junior team members to gain Team Leader status and to sustain and obtain SoRSA accreditation
High standard of written English to prepare professional reports, tenders and project plans
Support project and business development activities including project management duties and programming
Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities
Availability to travel in and around M25 and occasional unsociable working hours
A member of SoRSA
Knowledgeable in the use of KeyAccident software (desirable)
Experience in related Road Safety fields such as Research, Traffic Calming, Local Safety Scheme, Home Zone and Safer Routes to School design would be a particular advantage
University degree or HND qualification relevant to road safety (Engineering, Mathematics or other spatial or numerical subject)
Chartered or working towards such status with a relevant professional institution
