Title:

Manager, Project Controls

The Project Controls Manager (PCM) will assist the Project Controls Capability Lead to develop Project and Programme Controls capability within the GS EMEA business unit.

The PCM will be deployable away from Leatherhead head office into an appropriate project specific role when required. It is envisaged this will be within six months from date of commencement of employment and will be within the UK or Europe / Middle East.

While in the corporate head office role responsibilities will include:

  • Development and implementation of appropriate Project and Programme Controls systems and tools to support deployable capability onto PMC projects,
  • Enhancement of appropriate Project and Programme Controls processes and procedures to create deployable capability onto PMC projects in Cost Management, Scheduling, Risk Management, Change Management and Project / Programme reporting,
  • Assist with bid writing for PMC opportunities, and
  • Ad-hoc duties on current PMC projects including business trip assignments for up to one month duration.

Specific requirements of the PCM role on the project, likely to include:

  • Management of a deployed Project and/or Programme Controls team including allocation of tasks, resource management, appraisals, succession planning and development of individuals,
  • Development of project specific Project / Programme Controls Execution Plan to achieve the contract requirements,
  • Development of project specific processes and procedures and application of good practice,
  • Ensure coordination within the Project / Programme Controls functions,
  • Review and approval of all technical output, measures, metrics and recommendations from the Project Controls team,
  • Review and oversight of appropriate checks to ensure all data used by the project is complete, suitable and accurate, and
  • Responsibility for completeness, suitability and accuracy of data used and presented in all reports.

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • BSc / BEng in related subject or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable experience in PCM roles on major programmes
  • Expert in the implementation of project controls systems and tools
  • Expert in the use of project controls systems and tools
  • Specific knowledge of leading cost management systems (preferably Aconex)
  • Sound knowledge of commercial aspects of major programmes
  • Excellent knowledge of scheduling, cost management, risk management, change management and programme reporting, systems, tools, processes and procedures
  • Experience in setting up and delivering EVA on major programmes
  • Experience of range of reporting deliverables to different audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Demonstrable presentation skills
  • Fluent English both written and spoken
  • PMO leadership experience desirable
