AECOM is actively seeking a talented Assistant Project Manager for immediate employment for the Portland, Oregon office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.
Provide the overall management of significant engineering capital projects. Work with various Port and Aviation customers in Operations and other support departments to develop a thorough understanding of the requested project requirements. Set project plan and direction with subsequent management of all internal and external resources related to the design and construction of the project within the cost, schedule, and quality parameters established with the customer.
Assist in managing capital improvement construction projects by developing and managing project plan, covering the major items of scope, schedule, budget and quality.
Work with the program and project managers to assure that individual projects are completed successfully including
Develop and coordinate formal monthly project status reports
Complete monthly status reports, including schedule updates, progress reporting, etc.
Attend project meetings and prepare minutes as well as a list of follow through actions.
Coordinate decision log/open item reports, communicate and follow up with responsible parties, Informing PM on status of items and plans to meet deliverable dates
Generate schedules to assist Project Managers, Project Engineers and Construction Managers.
Develop, maintain, and communicate details of risk registers
Prepare technical memos and assist with specifications amendments.
Provide detailed spreadsheets for data compilation and analysis.
Thoroughly understand engineering and construction terms and processes.
Communicate complex data visually to a variety of stakeholders
Demonstrated project management skills and expertise; demonstrated leadership, judgment, and technical competence; project management and organizational skills.
Ability to: Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders; speak to management groups and the Port Commission in a public setting, presenting information in a clear and concise manner; motivate and organize multidisciplinary technical project teams; ability to obtain security badging at PDX and/or other Port facilities, which may require a criminal background check.
Working knowledge of: Public contracting process and methods for construction, professional services and equipment procurement. Range of project delivery methods available for public agencies including but not limited to: Design-Bid-Build, Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), Design-Build, etc.
Advanced knowledge of: In-depth understanding of engineering field(s) related to capital project design and construction; comprehensive understanding of engineering design standards and related building codes and regulations for integration into project plans and designs; Extensive knowledge of and direct experience in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, marine structures engineering, civil engineering techniques and practices.
Experience in design and coordination and management of complex capital projects; experience in project management and implementation of complex facility designs within established cost, quality, and delivery parameters; extensive experience as a senior project engineer; or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
License and/or Certification: Valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license
