Job Summary

AECOM is ready to hire a mid-level Industrial Hygienist / Asbestos Inspector for our New York, NY office.

Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

  • Conducting pre-demolition building surveys and overseeing asbestos abatement activities for various projects throughout area.

  • Field sampling and chain-of-custody preparation

  • Generation of project daily logs and supporting documentation

  • Report writing

  • Field work which requires the individual to be capable of walking on uneven grounds, in debris, lifting up to 30 lbs. of equipment at times and working in inclement weather conditions

  • Coordination with regulatory agencies, review of project specifications and drawings, data tabulation, and report preparation

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Degree

  • 2+ years of asbestos consulting experience to include one or more of the following: inspections, sampling and/or abatement oversight

  • Valid United States Driver’s License, preferably New York or New Jersey

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and background check

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of federal and state asbestos and lead regulations

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Must be proficient with MS Office applications


  • Asbestos inspector and project monitor licensures desirable
