AECOM is seeking a Safety Engineer. This position is part of the Construction Management team on the MTA Capital Construction East Side Access Project, a multi-billion dollar rail improvement project improving mobility within the Long Island Transportation Corridor-specifically commuter rail access between Long Island and the East Side of Midtown Manhattan.
Reporting directly to the ESA Safety Coordinator, this position is responsible for:
Supporting safety management construction protocols
Liaising with multiple contractors on safety aspects of contract.
Conducting routine field inspections and assessments to ascertain compliance with contractor safe work and health & safety plans.
Conducting task analysis as part of assessment to determine adequacy of controls for identified hazards provided by contractor.
Participating in joining hazard assessments with the MTACC and first responder community (NYPD/FDNY, etc.) to address identified issues pertaining to adherence to safety work plans, life safety and physical security.
Providing training to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), or other subjects germane to the safety function as deemed necessary.
Providing briefings to ESA management and other regulatory entities on behalf of the safety function.
investigating personal injury, property damage and near-miss accidents.
Completing accident investigations and worker compensation reporting.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Fire Safety, Environmental or Occupational Safety or equivalent
Exp: Practicing safety management techniques in the construction industry, railroad experience
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: OSHA 30 hour certificate, Certified Safety Professional
Experience in transportation projects and mass transit facilities.
Knowledge and experience with projects in the New York area.
