AECOM Water Business Line is looking for a Group Leader - Project Director with technical expertise, project management, client relations and business development experience in Texas and specifically in Houston. The successful candidate will be capable of working with other seller/doers, market sector leads, project managers and technical experts to continue to grow AECOM’s water and wastewater business.
Candidate should also have technical expertise in water or wastewater treatment and previous experience leading interdisciplinary teams on large, complex infrastructure projects. Candidate should possess skills in business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, performing technical quality reviews, developing staff, and preparing/presenting proposals.
Key Responsibilities include:
Interact and build relationships with clients and their technology experts
Support development of client and pursuit capture plans
Serve as part of the business development team for key project pursuits
Serve as technical director on projects
Participate in client interviews
Provide senior leadership and QA/QC of design drawings and specifications
Continuously build and strengthen professional network through personal contacts, professional associations, conferences, WEF/AWWA committee participation etc.
Provides engineering technical and management leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility.
Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior- level engineers within the company and with key engineering officials of other organizations and companies, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
At this level, individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual engineering problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field.
20+ yrs. experience in municipal water/wastewater plant design, rehabilitation, and construction with ability to perform technical reviews.
Previous and on-going successful client relationships with major municipal clients in the Greater Houston Area
Record of success in developing capture strategies, winning work, and delivering projects.
Preferred Qualifications :
Professional Engineer in Texas, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Active in the water/wastewater professional societies (e.g. AWWA, WEAT) in Texas
