SAIC is seeking a Maintenance Requirement Processing Senior Hardware Engineer to support installation, operations, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment in support of the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), by performing a variety of maintenance and technical support on products, such as equipment, integrated systems, and subsystems, and software at customer and field locations 24/7.
The NISSC II effort establishes requirements for OM&S that support classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), Peterson Air Force Base (PAFB), Colorado; Offutt AFB (OAFB), Nebraska; Vandenberg AFB (VAFB), California; and other sites, worldwide. This specific position will have a place of performance in Colorado Springs.
The qualified candidate’s duties range from on-the ground technician support to management of technical teams overseeing the hardware engineering teams. Must conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements IAW specific customer specifications, troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determines technical solution IAW product and customer specifications, and recommend courses of actions to customer representatives. Assess product needs IAW customer specifications.
Provide prioritized, actionable corrective or preventive recommended actions to support Sustainment Maintenance and Modification Services planning, performance, tracking, and measurement in support of the maintenance requirements processing process.
Performing or overseeing maintenance on various mission systems within CMAFS mission centers.
Meeting response times for failures and ensuring scheduled tasks are completed
Identifying, troubleshooting, and repairing failed equipment and deficiencies
Coordinating maintenance actions with 21CS Systems Center, Comm Focal Point, & CMAC crew
Performing Preventive Maintenance and Corrosion Control Inspections; documenting any deficiencies noted
Generating maintenance incident reports to IRs to identify, document, and track system issues and anomalies
Perform Special Project lead duties, where applicable, to focus on safe daily operations, oversee new project implementation and delivery
Coordinate and assist in scheduling all Quality Control inspections of cable and equipment installation/removal projects
Assist with configuration control for all network communication cable, infrastructure and conveyances for Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS)
Provide technical solution with cost and labor hour estimates
Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), process Purchase Requests (PR) and request quotes from vendors as required
Add note and comments to the Work Order Management system (WOMS/EWOMS) and other C4 systems requirements documentation
Review and update drawings, S-Plans or new installation documents and provide comments and feedback
Maintain cable installation records and schematics using customer provided database
Schedule and assist with maintenance of underground, buried, and aerial copper core and fiber-optic cables supporting command, control, communications, and computer systems.
Process civil engineer work clearance requests by locating and marking underground 21CS communication cabling
Operate hand tools, power tools, flukes, and other test equipment, auxiliary equipment, forklift, Kubota and other government/Lockheed Martin vehicles during day-to-day activities
Troubleshoot, repair, and replace fiber-optic cables associated with modems, transmitters and mux devices
Additional responsibilities are:
Conducting site surveys; assesses and documents current site network configuration and site-unique requirements
Recommending specifications for hardware acquisitions
Preparing engineering plans and site installation Technical Design Packages
Developing hardware installation schedules based upon set-up, integration, and test timelines
Preparing drawings documenting as-built configurations at each site
Configuring computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment
Training site personnel in proper use of hardware
Preparing installation guides, fielding test procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Ability to ensure all hardware availability in support of the Air, Missile, and Space warning missions. Candidate is responsible for a variety of CMAFS Combatant Commanders Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S) hardware maintenance systems for all CMAFS mission centers.
Excellent technical and communications skills to effectively interface with internal and external customers at all levels.
Ability to work in a high visibility environment, focused on 24/7 mission availability, and quickly respond to customer direction/requests.
Familiarity with military customs and courtesies desired.
5+ years (depending on position) of experience in cable maintenance environment or a related field
Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience, Five (5) or more years of technical training or equivalent, may be accepted in lieu of a degree
IP LAN/WAN Networking design.
Fiber Optic Backbone Experience
DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Experience
Hardware document control experience
Experience in cable plant design (Fiber Optic, Ethernet, RF, etc.)
Electrical engineering experience like power analysis, power and signal cabling, etc.
Experience with managing and updating Bill of Materials
Experience with supporting Operations and Maintenance Flight requirements.
Experience working in a mixed (Government and contractor) crew environment and adhere to a mission critical schedule. Willing and able to work 24/7 as necessary.
Experience with ITW/AA mission systems in CMAFB
Familiarity with military customs and courtesies
