SAIC is seeking a Management and Reporting Principal Hardware Engineer to support installation, operations, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment in support of the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), by performing a variety of maintenance and technical support on products, such as equipment, integrated systems, and subsystems, and software at customer and field locations 24/7. 


The NISSC II effort establishes requirements for OM&S that support classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), Peterson Air Force Base (PAFB), Colorado; Offutt AFB (OAFB), Nebraska; Vandenberg AFB (VAFB), California; and other sites, worldwide.  This specific position will have a place of performance in Colorado Springs.


The objective of 21 CS – Management and Reporting is to establish clear and effective communication and coordination of 21 CS Support activities.  The 21 CS Work Centers provide support and services to various CMAFS missions. The qualified candidate’s duties range from on-the ground technician support to management of technical teams overseeing the hardware engineering teams. Must conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements IAW specific customer specifications, troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determines technical solution IAW product and customer specifications, and recommend courses of actions to customer representatives. Assess product needs IAW customer specifications.

Specific duties, may include, but not be limited to:
  • Performing or overseeing maintenance on various mission systems within CMAFS mission centers.

  • Manage Management and Reporting teams and activities
  • Ensure adequate staffing
  • Maintain continuity binders for each on-site Work
  • Ensure teams meet or exceed ticket resolution timelines.
  • Collect, analyze, and report metrics of 21 CS Support task performance

  • Provide briefings on system and program capabilities
  • The contractor shall review Government assigned documents and provide comments identifying issues and concerns

  • Plan, host, and conduct (typically monthly) 21 CS Program Management Leadership Reviews

  • Generating maintenance incident reports to IRs to identify, document, and track system issues and anomalies

  • Perform Special Project lead duties, where applicable, to focus on safe daily operations, oversee new project implementation and delivery

  • Coordinate and assist in scheduling all Quality Control inspections of cable and equipment installation/removal projects

  • Assist with configuration control for all network communication cable, infrastructure and conveyances for Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS)

  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), process Purchase Requests (PR) and request quotes from vendors as required

  • Add note and comments to the Work Order Management system (WOMS/EWOMS) and other C4 systems requirements documentation


Technical Skills and Background Experience Requirements:
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Ability to ensure all hardware availability in support of the Air, Missile, and Space warning missions. Candidate will work on a 24/7 crew and is responsible for a variety of CMAFS Combatant Commanders Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S) hardware maintenance systems for all CMAFS mission centers.

  • Excellent technical and communications skills to effectively interface with internal and external customers at all levels.

  • Ability to work in a high visibility environment, focused on 24/7 mission availability, and quickly respond to customer direction/requests.

  • Functional Manager focusing on daily operation and maintenance duties as well as new projects.

  • 5+ years (depending on position) of experience in cable maintenance environment or a related field

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years related experience, Five (5) or more years of technical training or equivalent, may be accepted in lieu of a degree

  • Must meet DoD 8570 certification eligibility requirements

Desired Skills: 
  • IP LAN/WAN Networking design.

  • Fiber Optic Backbone Experience

  • DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) Experience

  • Hardware document control experience

  • Experience in cable plant design (Fiber Optic, Ethernet, RF, etc.)

  • Electrical engineering experience like power analysis, power and signal cabling, etc.

  • Experience with managing and updating Bill of Materials

  • Experience with supporting Operations and Maintenance Flight requirements

  • Experience working in a mixed (Government and contractor) crew environment and adhere to a mission critical schedule.

  • Experience with ITW/AA mission systems in CMAFB
