Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for a Canada Senior Waste Lead Engineer to support multiple offices across Canada. The position can be based out of any our AECOM offices, including Burnaby, Edmonton, Calgary, Markham, Guelph offices. This team includes solid waste system infrastructure planning and design as well as supporting resident engineer /inspector duties. Ideal candidates will have background in civil construction, heavy earthworks and soil processing, landfill construction, design (and closure) and construction supervision. Candidate would support assist/lead with business development, proposals preparation, senior review of design and planning reports, mentoring of staff, project management and ensuring quality of deliverables.

  • Local expert on providing technical leadership in a specialty area, often for a district.

  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications

  • Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.

  • Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.

  • Applies advanced or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Responsible for growth of the business across Canada

  • Provides business development to the business

  • Oversees the profitable operation of the team

  • Responsible for staff engagement and hiring

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 10 Years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of civil and /or environmental engineering experience

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • 10-15 years’ experience in waste management preferred
