Job Summary

We are growing our strategic consultancy offering and looking to recruit a transportation professional. In this role, you be collaborating on research to create standards and best practice guidance related to road user safety and resilience.

You will need to be a good communicator and should have a proven track record in supporting the delivery of innovative and cost-effective transportation solutions relating to road user safety and resilience. As part of the team you will be exposed to the whole research process from bidding, through design and delivery, to drafting guidance and transferring knowledge into practice.

Working together with the wider team, you will be responsible for ensuring that their tasks are delivered on time and to a high standard. The role would suit a self-motivated individual with good attention to detail who can be flexible and to undertake a range of different tasks.

  • Develop novel bespoke solutions on a project-by-project basis

  • Capture, review, collate and report information from a variety of sources

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of data analysis, interpretation and reporting

  • Relevant experience working with government transport based clients (e.g. DfT, Highways England, Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, Transport Scotland, Office of Rail Regulation, Rail Safety and Standards Board, local authorities), or in a research establishment (including well-respected universities)

  • Experience of providing engineering / technical management consultancy/research advice to such clients.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.

  • Knowledge of the key issues and opportunities facing transportation in the UK

  • Demonstrable discipline areas of interest are transportation policy and strategy; maintenance contracts; asset management including assessment of highways and rail renewal programmes; managed motorways expertise; lean construction; safety and simulations; transport operations; risk analysis; statistical analysis; technology; financial modelling; transport planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree (minimum) ideally in a transport related discipline

  • Master degree / PhD preferable
