Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Tunnel Design Lead for immediate employment in the Burnaby, BC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Organize project teams to support pursuits, and project execution

  • Participate in client relationships and maintaining regular client contact to solicit feedback on project performance

  • Structural tunnel design for Transportation and Water Conveyance Tunnels

  • Design of tunnel excavation and support systems

  • Perform constructability review, and contract Preparation

  • Prepare contract documents, technical specifications, design report and drawing

  • Implements and leads technical and QA/QC reviews

  • Supervise and review the work of less experienced engineers

  • Liaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

  • Ability to obtain P.Eng in BC within one year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with experience in tunneling and underground engineering or Master’s Degree in structural or geotechnical engineering is preferred

  • 15+ years’ experience in tunnel design and construction

  • Experience with both large diameter (6m +) plus trenchless tunneling preferred

  • Technical experience in different tunnelling methods, shaft design and ground improvement, SEM tunnelling , TBM tunnelling

  • Knowledge of Geotechnical, geology and Rock mechanics

  • Knowledge of analytical and numerical analysis methods for underground and tunnel

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Excellent oral and written skills as well as interpersonal/teamwork skills
