Crew Health Integration Specialist (Supporting NASA at Johnson Space Center)

Personnel will support the Human Health and Performance (HH&P) Directorate’s Human Landing System (HLS) and Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) tasks by providing developmental, operational, and integration expertise for Crew Health/Medical Operations to the Health and Medical Technical Authority (HMTA) delegates to NASA's HLS and Orion/MPCV Programs. The HLS Program encompasses the lunar portion of NASA’s Artemis missions, and the MPCV Program encompasses the Orion capsule used for launch, transit, and re-entry of the Artemis crew.

Additional duties include:

  • Representing all Crew Health requirements during the design phase.
  • Representing Crew Health at design milestones (i.e., SRR, PDR, CDR)
  • Reviewing verification and certification of vehicles, hardware, and software in development
  • Maintaining a broad knowledge of all Human Health & Performance (HH&P) requirements and engage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the technical details and direction
  • Integration of Medical Operational activities for HLS and MPCV.
  • Documenting and tracking concerns and decisions
  • Developing and executing a plan for documenting operational processes
  • Coordinating technical subject matter experts (SME), as needed
  • Provide insight into HLS and MPCV compliance with HMTA mandatory standards
  • Inform HMTA decisions by participating in HLS and MPCV Program activities, such as but not limited to:
  • Coordinating and participating in HLS and MPCV Program document and design reviews
  • Developing corresponding summary assessments and following up on resulting actions
  • Developing requirements mapping from HMTA standards to HLS and Orion Program documents and corresponding gap analysis
  • Reviewing and assessing integrated test and analysis activities
  • Formulating, summarizing, and representing a Crew Health position based on subject matter expertise for Program reviews
  • Developing position papers and/or requirements interpretations for HH&P issues
  • Disseminating information to HH&P management and subject matter experts

Incumbent will perform other duties and assignments as required.



This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field and at least 2 years’ experience working operational issues associated with human spaceflight.


Experience working in human spaceflight.

Prior Project Management experience



The candidate shall have demonstrated:

Familiarity with human space flight is desired.

Candidate should have the ability to effectively interact with customers at all levels.
