Systems Administrator (IAT II)

This position supports tasking for Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Fallon, NV. The candidate will be involved in an interdisciplinary field of Information Assurance and Information Technology that will focus on the compliance of information systems within the Risk Management Framework (RMF) environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

KBR is seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator in Fallon, NV, who will be responsible for the administration of one or more of the following data systems; Computer systems hardware, software, information systems and peripheral equipment such as servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems, administers operating systems and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as scheduling and back-ups. Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgement to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, intrapersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.


  • B. S. Computer Science, Information Systems Management from an ABET- accredited institution or IA/CS technology field, plus 10-12 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree relevant IT experience on a DOD classified networks is acceptable.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A current Top Secret Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 6 years is required.
  • Collaborate with and work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams within both government and industry.
  • Evaluate the customer's requirements and develop implementation strategies;
  • Organize and operate in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment.
  • Balance priorities and shift quickly;
  • Prepare operational and technical documentation;
  • Possess knowledge of cybersecurity; networking; and virtualization;
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Mentor and assign tasks to systems analysis staff;
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and similar computer–based productivity applications;
  • Travel as needed to support customer objectives and requirements;

Preferred Skills

  • At least 10 years of experience as a computer/server systems administrator.
  • 10 years of experience implementing operating systems and network device’s security configurations IAW Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • 7-10 years of experience in administering boundary devices (i.e. managed switches, proxy servers, routers, firewalls, cryptography and intrusion detection systems).
  • 7 to t10 years of experience performing vulnerability assessments using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker, incorporating automated benchmarks.
  • Experience mitigating technical/configuration flaws, implementing technical controls for hardware and software within a network environment.
  • Experience managing DOD Host-Based-Security-System (HBSS).
  • Five (5) years’ experience using the DOD campus-scale (multiple buildings, hundreds of users) server installation.
  • Five (5) years’ experience using the DOD Vulnerability Management Program (IAVAMP).
  • Possess DOD approved baseline certification as Information Assurance Technical Level II IAW DOD 8570.01-M (i.e. GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, Vendor certification(s) and IT Training provider certificate(s) for network environment main operating systems).
