System Administrator (IAT II)

Responsibe for the administration of one or more of the following data systems: Computer systems hardware, software, information systems & peripheral equipments such as servers, desktops, printers and storage devices. Maintains, installs, upgrades and configures data systems, administers operating systems, and maintains basic security and recovery procedures such as scheduling and backups. Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members.


B. S. Computer Science, Information Systems Management from an ABET- accredited institution or IA/CS technology field, plus five years of experience. In lieu of degree, experience as an IT Technician on DOD classified networks is acceptable.


Five (5) years’ experience as a computer/server systems administrator.

Five (5) years’ experience implementing operating systems and network device’s security configurations IAW Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

Five (5) experience in administering boundary devices (i.e. managed switches, proxy servers, routers, firewalls, cryptography and intrusion detection systems).

Five (5) years’ experience performing vulnerability assessments using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) approved Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Compliance Checker, incorporating automated benchmarks.

Five (5) years’ experience mitigating technical/configuration flaws, implementing technical controls for hardware and software within a network environment.

Five (5) years’ experience managing DOD Host-Based-Security-System (HBSS).

Five (5) years’ experience using the DOD campus-scale (multiple buildings, hundreds of users) server installation.

Five (5) years’ experience using the DOD Vulnerability Management Program (IAVAMP).

Possess DOD approved baseline certification as Information Assurance Technical Level II IAW DOD 8570.01-M (i.e. GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, Vendor certification(s) and IT Training provider certificate(s) for network environment main operating systems)
