Job Summary

AECOM is hiring an entry-level Structural Engineer for our Buildings+Places practice in New York City & Clifton, NJ offices. This is for immediate hire. (open to May Grads)

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing structural design of buildings and transportation structures and preparing related engineering calculations and structural modeling. Building types may include but are not limited to commercial buildings, government buildings, rail stations and airport terminals.

  • Building 3D finite element analytical structural models.

  • Conducting structural design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Preparing design criteria for projects following the applicable building codes

  • Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced structural engineer.

  • Using computer software as a tool for solving structural engineering problems.

  • Coordinating with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.

  • Structural BIM modeling using Revit or similar software

  • Travel to project site and meetings as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering strongly preferred

  • Previous internship or professional experience

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate

  • Interest in the structural design of building structures

  • Software experience with ETABS, SAFE, TEDDS, SAP2000,, Revit, RAM Structural, AutoCAD, MathCAD, SpecsIntact, spColumn, spBeam, spWall
