Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Principal System Administrator to support the U.S. Space Force (USSF), Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Development Corps (DC), Innovation and Prototyping Directorate (DCI), Prototype Operations Division (SMC/DCIO) through the Engineering, Development, Integration, and Sustainment (EDIS) contract. SAIC will work with SMC to modernize satellite ground systems for the USSF through the Research and Development Space and Missile Operations (RDSMO) program, as well as the Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) project.


This position will provide technical leadership and support to all EDIS System Administrators on the Colorado Team. This is a day-staff position directly supporting operational satellite missions and units. This position may require after-hours or on-call support based on real-world events and mission requirements. Some travel will be required between EDIS locations in Colorado Springs, CO; Denver, CO; and Albuquerque, NM. This position is located at the customer site on Schriever AFB, CO.

  • Responsibilities
    Lead and perform in all facets of system administrator duties to include day-to-day operational maintenance, mission support tasks, urgent customer/user requests for support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers
  • Work closely with Network Engineers, Cyber Engineers, System Administrators, and Systems Engineers to help determine, implement, and manage current and future operational requirements for mission critical Information Technology systems
  • Coordinate, direct and perform complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages and services
  • Continually monitor multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
  • Ensure mission data/media availability and recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
  • Recommends and makes decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with fourteen (14) years or more experience; Master’s degree with twelve (12) years or more experience; Doctorate degree with nine (9) years or more experience

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI

  • Current DoD 8570 IAT level II approved certification (Security+) and the ability to maintain all required DoD 8570 certifications

  • Strong background in configuring, administering, and maintaining computer server systems and virtual machines

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field and general knowledge of other related disciplines

  • Background in the use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Record of program or project management with the ability to organize efforts, achieve results, document processes and findings, and brief senior management

 
Desired:
  • Prior experience supporting USSF (AFSPC) satellite operations or space missions

  • Knowledge of VMware ESXi virtual environments and management of virtual servers

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, security groups, and group policies

  • Certifications and/or knowledge in MCSE, RHCE, Oracle, Cisco, Linux, ServiceNow
