AECOM is actively seeking a talented Senior Project Manager to join our Atlanta, Georgia transportation design team. AECOM Transportation Business Line in Atlanta provides a wide variety of civil transportation services to federal, state, county, municipal and port clients.

This position’s responsibilities include managing the scope, schedule, and budget of various projects, under the direction of a senior-level project manager. Previous experience in the management of infrastructure projects for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is preferable but not a requirement. The candidate will be responsible for GDOT major and minor bridge replacement projects throughout Georgia. Projects are delivered using procedures typical to the Georgia Department of Transportation and local Georgia governments. Demonstration of some level of experience managing scope schedule and budget of infrastructure projects is required. Knowledge and training with GDOT PDP process and experience managing consultant design firms is highly desired.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages, under the direction of Senior Manager, multiple bridge design project(s) with up to $1m contract value and $50K - $250K annual gross revenue, including planning, directing and supervising all aspects of the project financial results, client satisfaction, safety, and quality

  • Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget

  • Develops strong client relationships, both internal and external to the project team, and enhances project Performance

  • Organizes project assignments under mentorship and training of supervision of management staff

Manages one or more moderately complex project, involving a combination of the following:

  • Clients with a regional geographic footprint;

  • Projects involving multiple services provided by regional IE offices;

  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.

  • May manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.

  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS

  • Experience managing or designing civil engineering projects

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Experience with transportation projects

  • GDOT Plan Development Process knowledge

  • GDOT project management experience

Preferred Qualifications


  • Possess thorough knowledge of design and construction management practices.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (in oral and written form) and to use a computer for email, correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and automated project management systems. Ability to create management reports.
