Job Summary

Shimmick Construction, an AECOM CO., is seeking a Construction Engineer in San Francisco, CA . This challenging position will provide an excellent growth opportunity while improving the infrastructure of Northern California.


  • Provides construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjust designs to meet site conditions.

  • Oversees construction supervision, and provides final approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications.

  • Facilitates construction and start-up activities.

  • Ensures that the design engineering requirements are complied with by reviewing all design drawings/specifications and making daily field inspections as may be required to support quality functions.

  • Reviews cost controls and reports.

  • Submits required project submittals for approval.

  • Prepares construction related reports based on job site inspections.

  • Keeps project management informed of major cost overruns and under-runs.

  • Assists in developing, updating and monitoring planning and scheduling flow charts.

  • Performs all engineering tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Interprets plans and specifications

  • Prepares project schedules.

  • Prepares miscellaneous reports for project management providing information required to prepare the necessary submittals, designs, layouts, etc. involved in the construction of the assigned project.

  • Prepares and reviews subcontracts, change orders and contract value engineering claims and verifies requests for payment by subcontractors.

  • Reviews and analyzes production reports.

  • Coordinates subcontractors' activities.

  • Reviews, verifies and reports quantities to the project controls department.

  • Requisitions and assures delivery of construction materials.

  • Obtains necessary permits and coordinates construction activities with city and state inspection agencies.

  • Responsible for documentation of and distribution of all design changes and field modifications.

  • Works with other project entities to assure proper content and assembly of start-up work packages.

  • Works with home office engineering, original equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve issues as may be required.

  • Maintains a good client relationship.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or AA/AS (US) + 2 years of related experience or Diploma/Certificate
