Job Summary

The Disaster Resilience Solutions (DRS) unit of AECOM is actively seeking a Federal Coordination Officer - Disaster Recovery for immediate employment near any AECOM office. This opportunity will be providing leadership and support helping our clients prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate the effects of disasters around the world.

The Emergency Management Federal Coordination Officer in the Disaster Resilience Solutions (DRS) group will help effectively build, grow, execute and lead disaster related programs. Knowledge of and significant experience with all FEMA and/or HUD related disaster programs such as the Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, CDBG, and CDBG-DR programs for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs.

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • As part of the DRS unit, provides leadership, guidance and feedback on the DRS strategy development and execution.

  • Coordinates the emergency management relationships among clients, Federal and/or State

  • Develops and implements response and recovery operations in coordination with the client.

  • Alerts, and coordinates with other resources to support the client in identifying and meeting disaster needs.

  • Establishes an effective communications network with clients and local agencies.

  • Assesses damage and identifies and prioritizes needs in collaboration with the client.

  • Identifies the full range of programs and resources required to carry out the immediate response and long-term recovery.

  • Coordinates and monitors assistance programs.

  • Works with the client to implement appropriate financial controls to coordinate and monitor Federal and/or State program and administrative activities.

  • Works with the client to establish individual agency program goals and monitors agencies’ progress toward achieving those goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree + 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 4+ years of leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as Emergency Manager in a role of a Federal Coordination Officer or in a State or Local Emergency Management position or has been a part of a team responsible for executing CDBG related programs.

  • Extensive knowledge and significant experience with all aspect of Emergency Management
