Title:

Technical Writer II

Researches, writes, edits and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications. Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. Prepare written documents following standard guideline for NAVSEA technical publications; coordinate layout and organization of documentation. Excludes those responsible only for writing or editing.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING :

Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Writing or related technical field with at least 4 years of related experience. In lieu of formal education, 12 years of equivalent related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

Proficiency with Arbortext, and/or Oxygen to create documents for XML authoring, development, and collaboration for technical manual development. Must also be proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to write in clear, concise format.

Prospective candidate will be able to research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents for Standard NAVSEA Integrated Publishing Process (SNIPP) technical procedures using industry standard software.

Candidates must be a citizen of the United States of America and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
