Analyzes actual and predictable, interacting, operational activities of a military, governmental, or business system to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques.
Participates in planning, scheduling, and coordinating selected analytical process phases or assists in working any selection of subcomponents of the exercise/gaming activity. Devises modeling and measuring techniques; utilizes mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc.) and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines.
Possesses specific knowledge of analytical models, simulations and gaming tools. Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
Develops technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
Required Education / Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
9+ years of full-time professional experience in systems engineering including one year in support of a major shipboard systems;
3+ years must have been full-time experience at the system level .
Experience in the engineering, design, development, testing, maintenance (Fleet support), build, install, documentation, or configuration management of a U.S. Navy surface ship combat system.
Experience in combat systems as an internetworked system of hardware, software and network components, capable of conducting the full spectrum of tasks required to detect, track, identify, engage and eliminate a hostile target. U.S. Navy surface ship combat systems include the Aegis Weapon System on guided missile cruisers and destroyers, the Ship Self-Defense System on Nuclear Aircraft Carriers and conventionally powered amphibious platforms, the ship defense capability for Littoral Combat Ship or the combat capability for the DDG-1000 class platform.
Experience in current (within the last 7 years) Navy Combat System Engineering is preferred.
Active Secret Clearance required.
