Description

Join SAIC’s team, in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command's  Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Support Services (SOF AT&L), in meeting its mission by providing rapid and focused acquisition, technology, and logistics support to Warfighters, through the delivery of the most effective capabilities to our Special Operations Forces.

 
The candidate selected for this position shall:
  • Serve as an engineer planner, works directly for the Operations Engineer within the J4 Directorate of Logistics

  • Responsible for assisting in the review of all Special Operations plans and orders

  • Development of SOF operational engineer policy
  • Coordination of the Alternate DoD Construction Authority

  • Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing a professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering

  • Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects

  • Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, and projects.  May also present briefings when required

  • May support technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs

  • Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval on engineering projects

  • Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies

  • Provides significant, expert level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements

  • Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials

Qualifications

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience

  • Must possess a DoD Secret clearance
  • DAWIA Level II Equivalency IAW the PWS
  • BS in Civil Engineering, or equivalent military engineering experience consisting of 10 or more years of military engineering and construction experience

  • Highly Desirable: Experience at COCOM/Service Component Headquarters Staff / Special Operations /Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Command, or Air Force Civil Engineer Command

  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment

  • Skill in preparing, reviewing and interpreting design concepts and ability to convey ideas and formulate working drawings using computer aided design systems, graphical interface systems

  • Ability to interpret, select, and apply a variety of engineering principles and guidelines. Analyze, investigate, and delineate specifics of the problem encountered and devises ways to meeting engineering requirements

  • Skill in evaluating state-of-the-art scientific and environmental/engineering technologies and incorporating into the planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems

  • Ability to direct and coordinate engineering and maintenance programs, and inform development of criteria for specialized critical system design

  • Plan, develop and implement procedures for review of acquisition programs, and military engineering programs. Direct engineering sufficiency review of these programs until turnover

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite software and Project Management/Scheduling software programs such as MS Project
