Position Description:

  • Responsible for the use of hand-welding or frame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, fill holes, or repair seems in fabricated metal products.  Help develop templates for bending/shaping and bracing metal structures, measuring, laying out and cutting templates, and conduct pre and post weld checks.  Perform grinding and chipping, beveling and cleaning of surfaces to be welded using power and hand tools.
  • Perform firewatch duties and delivers materials as needed.


  • Must have at least 4 years of NNS or naval shipyard experience as a first-class welder
  • Must be able to interpret drawings/blueprints to determine scope and material needed
  • Experience supporting ship installation work
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Department of Defense/ Naval organizations
  • Must meet NAVSEA 248 requirements
  • Must pass weld exams on all positions, (Horizontal (2G) Position), GMAW (Gas Metal ArcWelding) process if requested.
