Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Assistant Controller, Compliance for immediate employment for the Orange, CA office.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate with America's leadership to develop appropriate processes, key controls, and finance and accounting team structure for high risk locations, including existing remote location offices and newly established office and project locations

  • Maintain the accuracy and manage the significant process documentation, including key financial controls and process narratives in accordance with SOX and applicable auditing standards

  • Monitor compliance of regions with US GAAP and company objectives and policies, including performing audits over specific areas of focus (financial and operational) and reviewing progress of remediation of findings from prior reviews

  • Coordinate both internal and external audits and required supporting documents

  • Prepare summary and gather supporting documents for quarterly Corporate submissions, including sub-certifications, internal control questionnaires, and financial schedules, for the Americas geography

  • Provide feedback to Americas Controller and Americas leadership team on recommended process and operational improvements

  • Supervise and develop direct reports

  • Meet deadlines consistently on a timely basis

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree + 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years in a leadership position

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA is a plus

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

  • Public/Private experience in a publicly held and/or multi-national company preferred

  • 5+ years of experience at a “Big 4” accounting firm highly desired

  • Advance Excel user and working knowledge of Access a plus

  • Oracle experience (or comparable ERP system)

  • Engineering and construction industry and experience

  • Familiarity and working knowledge of CAS and FAR

  • Strong supervisory and organizational skills

  • Detail oriented, self-starter and require minimal supervision

  • Ability to successfully multitask

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and instill a sense of urgency

  • Proven record of process improvement and streamlining functions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
