Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a civil engineer to join our transportation intermodal planning team supporting FDOT projects. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved with road and freight planning for the FDOT Freight and Transportation Coordination Unit. The position is located either at our AECOM Miami or Ft. Lauderdale offices and in FDOT District 6 in Miami.

  • Performs specific transportation intermodal planning assignments of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering and transportation planning data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes an approach to solving new transportation intermodal problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results and provides guidance for solutions.

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Civil Engineering

  • 2 plus years of related transportation planning experience including land use plans, demographics, distributions, and urban area projects

  • Knowledge of the transportation planning process and the associated regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 plus years of transportation planning, freight-systems-related, PD&E, and/or NEPA experience

  • EIT

  • Knowledge and experience in Project Management

  • Knowledge and experience working with FDOT (work program, production cycle, etc.)

  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

  • Knowledge of research techniques

  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience

  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to laypersons

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective relationship with agencies

  • Ability to work independently'
